When you insert a removable device such as a DVD, CD or memory stick, or mount a disk image, then a scan of the entire device is automatically performed. Progress is displayed on the desktop along with any Scheduled scans or Finder contextual menus scans that are currently underway. Removable media scans can be cancelled, paused and resumed.

Files on the removable device can still be accessed while a scan is running - the file-access scanner will ensure anything not yet scanned is threat-free before allowing access.

Removable Media Scans

Additional Information
The removable media scanning feature does not require the ProtectMac AntiVirus application to be running, however,
removable volumes will appear and disappear in the ProtectMac AntiVirus application as they are mounted and dismounted, allowing you to also scan them at any time from the main application as well. Removable volumes can also be scanned directly from the desktop via the Finder contextual menu after they are mounted.
How it works...
A scan starts when a removable volume is mounted. If there are no threats, the progress window will fade out, else a desktop dialog will appear allowing you to open the main application to see further details.
