Real-time file-access scanner
Even though ProtectMac AntiVirus is intercepting every file open, file close, file copy and application launch in the background, and checking each file to make sure it is safe, you'll hardly notice it's installed - unless of course it discovers a threat!
Super fast scan speeds
Watch how fast ProtectMac AntiVirus scans disks and folders for threats - run the main application, start a scan and open the Information window. What's more, scan the same area again and watch it go even faster.
Scanning directly from Finder
The easiest way to perform a user scan is to control-click or right-click on a file, folder or volume in Finder and select 'Scan' from the contextual menu - it's that simple!
Multiple, simultaneous scans can be started via Finder in this way, with each new scan being added to a small progress view that appears on the desktop.
Scheduled background scans
Scheduled scans can be configured to run in the background at regular intervals or at specific times and even as soon as there has been an update. Multiple scheduled scans can run simultaneously, helping ensure that no part of your Mac or network can harbor undetected threats.
Automatic scanning of Removable volumes
Removable volumes can be scanned automatically as soon as they are mounted, for example, when you insert a DVD or USB memory device or expand a dmg file, ensuring that the entire media is thoroughly examined before you begin to use it.
However, you can still use the volume in the meantime, the file-access scanner will be analyzing each file as it is opened to make sure it is safe.
Virus and Spyware Detection
ProtectMac AntiVirus uses a superset of the same threat and malware detection engine that Apple use in Mac OS X Server, Clam AV. The scanning technology scans for both Mac and non-Mac malware.

Threat Database
The threat database records all threats past and present that have been detected. Threats can be viewed and managed via the threat window interface in the main application.
History Events Database
The History database stores all actions performed by the product, keeping a record of events indefinitely or discarding older events when they reach a specified threshold as defined in the user preferences. The History View in the main application allows you to view all events, display individual events in separate windows and apply a filter so that events of interest can be located and compared more easily.
Menu Bar Icon
The system menu bar icon provides a way to easily access features of the product, launch the main application and display status information.
Daily updates
ProtectMac AntiVirus checks for updates daily, downloading new threat identities and product updates automatically and installing them in the background without user intervention or the need to restart your Mac.
Of course there is nothing to stop you manually checking for updates as often as you like via the application preferences or menu bar icon!
Authorized Access Levels
Certain key features and preferences can only be accessed if you have Admin privileges. However, even if you are logged into your Mac with Admin rights, for added security some of these have an additional level of authorization that require you to authenticate before allowing you to use them, such as modifying the file-access scanner, adding an item to the FileSafe or stopping a scheduled scan.
Logging
All actions performed by the product can be optionally saved to a log file. In addition, the log files can be automatically archived at set intervals so that you can retain a history, referencing events over time.
Designed for Mac OS X
ProtectMac AntiVirus has been designed for Mac OS X, it is a universal binary and will run on both Intel and PPC-based Macs. It is also Snow Leopard Ready!
