The real-time file-access scanner is running in the background at all times. Every file that you open or close and every application that you run is first checked by ProtectMac AntiVirus to make sure that it is safe to use. Any file that is copied from or to your Mac, or any file that is downloaded from the internet or detached from an email will be intercepted and scanned by the file-access scanner, too.

Real-time File-access Scans

Additional Information
The real-time file-access scanner does not require the ProtectMac AntiVirus application to be running or any user to be logged in for it to operate.
How it works...
If a file is threat-free then access to the file will be allowed, else, if the file contains a threat, a warning dialog will be displayed and access to the file will be blocked, hence keeping you safe.

Although ProtectMac AntiVirus is intercepting every file and checking that it is not infected with any of the thousands of known Windows and Mac threats, you'll hardly notice it's installed - unless of course a threat is discovered!
