Disable Java in your web browser to prevent OSX.Flashback from running

The latest variant of the Flashback trojan exploits multiple vulnerabilities in Java on Mac OS X 10.6 and OS X Lion 10.7. Read more about OSX.Flashback
For the majority of Mac users Java is not required on their computer, so while we recommend that you install a commercial Mac antivirus solution such as ProtectMac Antivirus and keep your system patched with the latest Security Updates from Apple - the vulnerabilities were fixed on 3 April 2012 - to prevent Java from running you can also disable it within your web browser.

Disabling Java in Safari
Run Safari and open the application's preferences.
Select the Security tab.
Deselect the Enable Java checkbox.


Disabling Java in FireFox
Run FireFox and go to the Tools menu and select Add-ons from the drop-down menu.
Select the Plugins tab.
Select Java and click Disable.


Disabling Java in Chrome
Run Chrome and type About:Plugins (without spaces) in the address URL field
Select Java in the list of plugins.
Select the Disable link below the entry to disable Java.
