Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What will happen to the software I have installed after the end-of-support date?
A. ProtectMac AntiVirus 1.x will continue to operate as normal but you will no longer receive software or virus data updates.

Q. Will I be able to get support for retired products?
A. Unfortunately it is not possible to provide support for products after the end-of-support date.

Q. Why are products retired?
A. Products are typically retired because it is no longer possible to support some of the functionality on older versions of OS X. Many older versions of OS X are no longer actively updated by Apple.

Q. Are there replacement products for retired versions?
A. Yes. We always try and provide a replacement product for customers, although in certain circumstances this may require updating OS X too.

Where older Macs cannot update to a newer version of OS X then it is not possible to provide an alternative product.

Q. Will I need to upgrade OS X on my computer to run a newer antivirus product?
A. If you’re running OS X 10.4 or OS X 10.5 and want to run ProtectWorks AntiVirus Version 2 then you will need to upgrade your computer to OS X 10.6 (or later). The antivirus software will inform you if this is necessary.

Q. How do I upgrade OS X on my computer?
A. If you’re running OS X 10.4 or OS X 10.5 then you’ll need an OS X 10.6 (or later) installer disk. OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and OS X 10.7 Lion Installer disks can be purchased from the Apple Online Store, if required.

See Learn how to upgrade older versions of OS X in the General Requirements section on the following Apple web page: http://www.apple.com/macos/how-to-upgrade/

Q. Where do I find my License Key?
A, Your License Key can be viewed in the application’s About box and can be found in the emails that were sent to you when you purchased or renewed. Your latest license key can also be requested via the License Key reminder web page.

Go to the License Key Reminder page on the ProtectWorks web site and enter your email address, your license key will be emailed to you.
